thanks to my Cuz, Sally Putiatine, who shared this excellent piece from the National Post. It points some fingers, and truth be told, I’ve both pointed some and should have a few more pointed at me. No matter where you lie on the spectrum of choosing what you eat, this is something we should all read and think about.

From CSAs, to community outreach, to great things from other folks…
Boomerized
Very nice synthesis of a couple of our recent dessert posts in the spring edition of The American Boomer magazine. Yes, it's a rehash, but ya know what? I really dig seeing this stuff laid out in magazine format, and Alexandra always does a fabulous editing job – Thanks, ABM!
The Sound of Roasting Coffee
The sound of roasting coffee…
One of our local NPR stations, KUOW, has a Sound of the Day feature they run. I was roasting coffee the other day, listening to that, along with birds singing and wind off the water when I thought ‘That’s a pretty cool sound.’ Turns out KUOW agreed!
Welcome Back!
Thanks again to all who re-signed and welcome to newcomers!
So's ya knows, I always post on Fridays, and occasionally more than that. Between times, I often post pics on Instagram, and a tweet or two – Those generally are stuff in progress and research, which can be pretty fun, and certainly tasty
And speaking of research, we love doing custom recipes, as a good few followers here know – If you ever get stuck, need an idea, or have ingredients you're at a loss for what do do with, post up here, or on Facebook, or drop me a tweet, and we'll go to work for ya!
You'll also find a lot of recipes here in the archives; again, if you don't see what you need, let us know, and we'll do it up.

We’ve moved, and we want you to come back home!
Well, it's finally done. UrbanMonique has moved from WordPress to self-hosted status. We're faster, ad free, video capable, cleaner, and with blog posts more to the fore. It's going to allow us to grow at a good clip, something we're pretty excited about.
That said, there is one huge bummer – we lost ALL our subscriber data, so if you've been following us and getting automatic notices of posts, that's what we've lost.
please take a sec and sign up again if you'd be so kind; you're why we post, and we want you back! And please tell anyone and everyone you know would like it here about us as well.
As always, Big Thanks!

New Digs
In the next week or so, I'll be transitioning the blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. I'm doing this myself, and I don't anticipate any problems, but if for any reason you should find the site unavailable, try urbanmonique.net – I'll set that up as an mirror site just make sure there's no serious interruption of service.
The switch gives me the tools to build a much more dynamic and robust site, so expect some very cool changes in the not too distant future.
