Been looking into house made bitters lately. Have found, in researching that process, that botanical purveyors, like herbs, can be a mixed bag, often with frustrating results not realized until you receive product that just doesn’t cut the mustard…
Enter this great outfit for supplies out of Seattle, Dandelion Botanical.
In addition to the relatively offbeat botanical stuff needed to make bitters at home, they have a great selection of culinary herbs and salts, with four beautifully varied smoked versions of the latter. They feature a wide selection of herbs, including Chinese, as well as essential oils, flower essences, tinctures, and bulk teas; there’s also a bunch of naturopathic and Ayurvedic stuff as well. Take some time to poke around all these selections and you’ll note they have a huge inventory.
Most salient point in recommending them, they are uber concerned about quality, provenance, and reliability of all their stuff; every item has a code telling you origin and nature, such as certified organic, wildcrafted, commercially grown, grown without pesticides, and Sulfur-Free – Really makes quality shopping a lot easier.
Prices range from very good to downright cheap for high quality products. The folks are all great.
As always, we encourage you first and foremost to see if there’s a quality supplier close to you. If not, or if your just not finding that one thing you need, these folks are well worth your patronage, and you’ll find their link added to ours over there on the right.
